Concert in Tom`s Musikkeller
Duo Café Crème plays for you from the lightness of being.
French nostalgic chansons, sometimes romantic, sometimes cheerful, for humming and singing along, perhaps even for dancing, but also for reflection.
Adamo, Francoise Hardy,
Gilbert Bécaud, Georges Moustaki, Jaques Brel, or, or, or..., these are the names from the time, with Nathalie along the Champs Élysées, with Adamo to Kilimanjaro or a life in pink with Edith Piaf.
Love, passion, melancholy, and zest for life, everything that France has to offer musically. French chansons, but also beautiful songs from other countries.
Music by old men – the name is the program: Moustaki, van Veen, Wader, Dylan, Kreisler … Rolf Mayer sings tri-lingually through the ups and downs of his time. Songs, chansons, political, apolitical, romantic, and non-romantic … a musical journey through a revolutionary as well as romantic era.
Rolf Mayer, who is perhaps somewhat better known in Saarland, always presents
in good spirits the
“Music by Old Men” on his guitar. The trained hotel merchant covered the songs of his great idols like Georges Moustaki, Hermann van Veen, Hannes Wader, Georg Kreisler, but also Jaques Brel, Charles Aznavour, and, and, and.... They are all artists who lived and worked in a revolutionary time, and Rolf Mayer sees himself as their mouthpiece regarding lyrics and melody.
Thus, he fittingly sang: “With our wishes and questions…we do not feel alone…friends, it's nice to see you.” Rolf’s father mandated that he master the languages German, English, and French in speech and writing. Today, he can use this knowledge excellently in music. That’s why he still sings his songs tri-lingually today.
A happy coincidence brought the two, Hubert and Rolf, together, as Hubert also speaks and sings fluently in these languages alongside his wonderful musical abilities.
Regarding Hubert Koop, the following can be said: he is a highly experienced musician who expresses himself on the piano, the organ, and the accordion.
Although he is considered a stalwart of Saarland's beat and rock history (BLACKBIRDS), it has become apparent that this instrumentation, also together with the guitar, is excellently suited to bring songs from German- and English-speaking countries to the stage, particularly French chansons.
He has acquired his vast experience through numerous band formations and memberships. Already in the late sixties, he was a founding member of the “BLACKBIRDS”.
Further bands followed.
Notably, his membership in the so-called “PETE MILLER BAND” stands out. This was the house band of the Saarland State Chancellery at the time when Peter Müller was the Minister-President of Saarland.
