The river will always be a major attraction in the region. When the wine trade was flourishing, the river was a transfer point for the transport of wine barrels, so it also provided employment for many people. It still serves as a transport route for cargo ships today, but the Mosel has also developed other uses. Both for the river cruise ships that dock in Traben-Trarbach and offer the best view of the Art Nouveau town from the river, or the many private boats that pass along the Mosel and moor, for example, in the Traben-Trarbach marina. A Mosel boat trip is definitely a highlight, whether by small boat or sightseeing boat, you can enjoy the tranquillity of the river with an excellent view of the steep vineyards, ideally with a good glass of Mosel wine. Active water sports are also possible on the Mosel – from canoeing to water skiing, the river offers many opportunities for a great time on the water.
