Hike through the PIWI vineyard

The Wine Forest Hike begins at the Staffelter Hof, the oldest vineyard in the world, and takes you into our forward-looking flagship project. On a guided tour through the Wine Forest, you will experience firsthand how olive trees meet PIWI vines, how herbs, roses, hedges, and trees interact within a vibrant ecosystem – and how new fertility arises from our own compost. Accompanied by impressive views of the landscape, you will dive deeply into our vision of climate-resilient viticulture.
We share with you solid knowledge about the project, sustainable viticulture, biodiversity, and the history of our winery – authentic, transparent, and with genuine passion. Of course, enjoyment is also essential: During the hike, you will taste five selected wines and directly experience how the future can resonate in a glass.

Our Wine Forest is a forward-looking flagship project and virtually unique in its form: Almost exclusively PIWI vines – fungus-resistant, climate-resilient grape varieties – grow here in a consciously designed agroforestry system among around 150 trees and over 800 hedges and shrubs. This diverse, resilient ecosystem is our answer to the challenges of climate change and a crucial step towards our goal of producing CO₂-neutral wine one day. At the same time, it creates a place where one can encounter nature directly – a space where each year we are allowed to give back a bit of its energy to the Earth and our environment.
