Discover the exciting history of the former fortress ruins Mont Royal during a circular walk.
On this circular hike, you will experience first-hand the exciting history of the former, mighty Mont Royal fortifications, which the Sun King Louis XIV built from 1687 by his brilliant master builder Vauban on the peninsula mountain high above Traben. Destroyed again by the French in 1698, it was only possible to carry out excavations on Mont Royal in the last century using original plans from Parisian archives. Equipped with flashlights, you walk through the fortress ruins with our guide and can discover the remaining building remains of the mighty walls, casemates and cellar vaults up close.
