Mont Royal Tour

Discover the exciting history of the former fortress ruins Mont Royal during a circular walk.

On this circular hike, you will experience up close the exciting history of the former, massive fortress Mont Royal, which was built by the Sun King Louis XIV starting in 1687 by his genius architect Vauban on the peninsula hill high above Traben. Already destroyed by the French in 1698, excavations on Mont Royal could only be carried out in the last century based on original plans from Parisian archives.
Equipped with flashlights, you will hike with our guide through the fortress ruins and can discover the remaining building remains of the massive walls, casemates, and cellars up close.

Please make sure to wear good or sturdy footwear – participation is at your own risk.
