Glimpsing into the Soul

For his new program, the German jazz guitarist has been inspired by the endless nuances of color and the tactile qualities, sound, and scent of wood.

With his unique, unexcitable, yet memorable style, Daniel Stelter takes us on a journey through forests and vineyards over the Alps to the Bosporus during these two "Weinklängen."

Through his artistic diversity, brilliance, and activity, Daniel Stelter has made a name for himself in the German jazz scene and is among the most sought-after, versatile guitarists in Germany. In his concert programs, he consistently follows his artistic path, reflected in his distinctive sound and creative play as well as in his individual style of composition and arrangements.

For his program "Wooden Songs," Daniel Stelter has looked deeply into the soul of the material of his instruments and strikes very nature-connected tones. It is an atmospheric reflection where Stelter's classically-influenced, almost vocal guitar playing communicates with the characteristic drum and percussion sound and the acoustic bass. Together with vocalist Menna Mulugeta and her soulful voice, they create a unique language that culminates in a timeless sound. "Everything is finely crafted here, precise, and simultaneously marked by great subtlety," wrote Jazz-Fun.
