Family winery run in the third generation
History of the winery:
Like many family-run wine businesses in the Mosel region today, our roots lie in an agricultural mixed enterprise. Winegrowing played only a minor role. Crop farming and animal husbandry enabled the families to be nearly self-sufficient. The beginnings date back to the 18th century.
In the middle of the last century, there was an increasing specialization into a winery. The first wines were bottled and marketed under their own name.
The current name of the winery came from the marriage of our parents in 1965. This merged the already existing wineries from Erden and Kinheim. The location became our mother Oliva's parental home, which was gradually expanded. A major project was the construction of the cellar in 1978, which created space and made expansion of the business possible.
In 1999, the winery was taken over by us brothers. From that point on, the vineyard area was continuously expanded, so that we now cultivate about 5.5 hectares. This was accompanied by an increase in the variety of grape types. However, areas were also added that stand for the tradition and typicity of the Mosel region - such as the purchase of the vineyard in the prime location of Wehlener Sonnenuhr in 1999. A steep slope where Riesling thrives wonderfully.
We are now working in the third generation at the Schneider-Faber winery - and the fourth generation is already in the starting blocks...
