Former tithe and estate farm
The Echternach Courtyard is a baroque, three-winged complex and was the former tithe and economic yard of the old imperial abbey of Echternach. The Echternach Courtyard was built in its current form in 1764 under Abbot Michael Hormann by the master builder Paul Mungenast.
The abbot's coat of arms and the portrait of the master builder can be found in the gable triangle. The Echternach Courtyard goes back to a donation by Pippin the Short to the monastery of Echternach around 741/752.
