Carolingian Court / Court of the Count of Kesselstatt

It originally belonged to the court ring of the castle of the Knights of Cröv, whose younger branch referred to themselves as Lords of Daun - after the "Tower" = Castle in Daun - which they guarded in the name of Kurtrier according to the record of rights. They bear the same coat of arms as the Knights of Cröv, a red grid (still the coat of arms of the city of Daun today). In the 14th century, the Lords of Daun were so heavily pressured by Kurtrier that they relinquished their position as the Vogtei of the emperor in the free Kröver knight court, whereby the elector gradually fought for a third of the rights in the Kröver realm. The Kesselstatt, for Kurtrier, as "Obervogt," whose rights were represented in the Kröver realm, came into the possession of the former Daun castle and finally to a third of the Kondelwald. The castle house still stood until the end of the 18th century. Between 1786 and 87, the current manor house was built, which was sold by Kesselstatt to Matth. Müller in 1864. Today, the KAROLINGERHOF houses a hotel that combines the charm of past eras with modernity and invites guests to enjoy the beauty of the Mosel in a unique atmosphere.
