Along the banks of the Moselle past Burg and Enkirch to Traben-Trarbach

General information

Directions

Start in Reil, cross the Moselle bridge to the right-hand side of the Moselle and cycle towards Traben-Trarbach along the Moselle cycle path, past the castle towards Enkirch (historic town center), continue to Traben-Trarbach, the Art Nouveau town, arrive in Trarbach, take the access road to the bridge, at the beginning of the bridge start the pedestrian zone with restaurants and a tour of Trarbach. Traben-Trarbach was at times the second most important wine trading town in Europe. At the beginning of the 20th century, the wealth of the wine merchants was documented by numerous imposing Art Nouveau buildings, which alone justify a tour of the town. Continue over the bridge, after the bridge turn left into "neue Rathausstr.", from there turn left again to the banks of the Moselle, cycle to Kövenig past the barrage (visitor area), at the end of Kövenig take a boat across to the right side of the Moselle (ferry times from Easter to October) and return towards Reil (it is possible to continue via the K 65, but this is not recommended due to the narrowness of the road).

It is also possible to return by train or boat from Traben-Trarbach.

Safety Guidelines

If you do not change sides on the Moselle from Kövenig and continue on the K65, please avoid driving side by side. The road is narrow, somewhat confusing in places and quite busy.

Equipment

Please always wear a helmet

Tip

In Traben-Trarbach you will find the oldest and one of the most beautiful minigolf courses in Germany. A detour there is well worthwhile.
