The route leads from Enkirch through the idyllic Ahring valley to Starkenburg and from there over the Mosel heights back to Enkirch
From the Tourist Information Enkirch the route leads past the “Hotel Steffensberg”, there turn right over the bridge and immediately after turn left into the street “Im alten Tal”. We follow the signpost E 6. The hiking trail leads us past gardens and along the Großbach until we reach the street (L 192) “Am Steffensberg”. We now follow this to the right. We pass the “Hotel Dampfmühle” and hike straight ahead over the bridge into the Ahring valley. Along the former monastery mill, Herrenmühle, fish ponds and Red Mill we hike to the Ahringsmühle. Going downhill to the right we cross the Ahring brook and turn left. The hiking trail leads us further through the valley until we reach the former Starkenburg mill. Here we leave the valley and hike sharply right uphill to Starkenburg. The route leads us right through Starkenburg. 200 metres after leaving the village, we turn left from the main street, hike downstream on the hiking trail E 6 through the vineyards or over the heights (Kirst) on the Mosel heights trail (M) with wonderful views of the Mosel back to Enkirch.
