Hike along the former fortress "Mont Royal" to the art nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach

Over the Kinheimer Höhe, the route goes through the wine village of Kröv, past the "Kesselstatt Chapel" through the vineyards to the Mont Royal holiday park. The route continues along the excavations to Traben-Trarbach.

General information

Directions

We start uphill via the Kinheimer Höhe (hiking trail no. 13). At the wayside shrine, turn right through the vineyards towards Kröv. From there, take hiking trail no. 9 past the "Kesselstatt Chapel" through the vineyards to the "Mont Royal" holiday park (stop for refreshments in the restaurant or on the Panorama Terrace). From there, continue along the circular hiking trail "R" to the "Mont-Royal" fortress complex.

After the ruins of the fortress, take the hiking trail T9 or T10 along the glider airfield (refreshments also available here) to Traben-Trarbach.

 

Return to Kinheim by boat or bus. Alternatively: Cross the Moselle bridge to the district of Traben and then follow the Moselle cycle path upstream via Wolf to Kindel.
