Hike along the former fortress complex "Mont Royal" to the Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach

Via the Kinheimer Höhe, you go through the wine village Kröv, past the "Kesselstatt Chapel" through the vineyards to the Mont Royal holiday park. Along the excavations, it continues to Traben-Trarbach.

General information

Directions

Starting uphill via the Kinheimer Höhe (hiking trail no. 13). At the Bildstock, turn right through the vineyards towards Kröv. From there, take hiking trail no. 9 past the "Kesselstatt Chapel" through the vineyards to the holiday park "Mont Royal" (dining options available in the restaurant or on the panorama terrace). From there, continue along the circular hiking trail "R" of the "Mont-Royal" fortress complex.

After the fortress ruins, follow hiking trail T9 or T10 along the glider airfield (there is also the possibility to stop for refreshments) to Traben-Trarbach. 

 

Return to Kinheim is possible by ship or by bus. Alternatively: cross the Moselle bridge to the Traben district and then follow the Moselle bike path upstream past Wolf to Kindel.
