The path leads us at some distance around the Springiersbach monastery. This way, we have the opportunity to see it from three directions.

Varied hike over very good, paved paths. We walk through the forest as well as explore the Alfbach and part of the village of Bengel. The good paths make this hike possible in any weather. Entry to the route is also possible from/to the station in Bengel, so arrival/departure by public transport is also an option.

General information

Directions

We start our hike in Springiersbach at the parking lot opposite the monastery church. From here, we go left past the church and the monastery shop, then right under the archway. Now, it goes straight up an incline. From here, we are on the "Kondelwaldweg," which is well marked with white signs with a black "K." After about 200 m, we have another nice view of the monastery. We continue following the Kondelwaldweg steadily uphill. At the height, you can see toward the Moselberge hills as far as the Zell Barl industrial area. Now it goes downhill to the K35. Here we turn right and walk about 100 m to the bike path at the B49. We follow this left for about 50 m, cross the B49, and follow the L105 toward Reil. Behind the railway underpass, we turn right onto the field path and follow it uphill to the next intersection. Then we follow the path to the left toward the forest. At the first junction, we meet the Kondelwaldweg again, onto which we turn right. At the next intersection, we leave the Kondelwaldweg again, turning right onto the forest path. This leads us now over about 4 km at a constant height around some valleys through the forest. From here, you have several beautiful views of Bengel, into the Wittlicher Senke as far as Neuerburger Kopf, and of Springiersbach. At the end of the path, we keep right and meet the K135 after about 500 m. We follow this uphill to the next hairpin turn. There, we turn right into the forest path and follow it until we meet hiking trail 4 (white sign with black 4). On this path, it goes now continuously downhill to Bengel. On the K135, we turn left, walk about 200 m, go right under the underpass, then left past the Sauerbrunnen, and then right onto the field path, passing the water treading facility. After about 200 m, we reach the Alfbach, which we cross, then immediately behind the bridge turn right onto the riverside path. This takes us past the "Rausch," a weir, to Moselstraße. We follow this to the left and thus arrive in the center of Bengel with the Anatolia Döner, where we have the opportunity to refresh ourselves (observe opening hours). The path then leads past the "Alftal Dom," the parish church St. Quirinus, to the left into Lindenstraße. After a few meters, it continues to the right through a garden area. We follow this path up to the height, where at the end of the path, we turn left onto the field path. We follow it uphill to the next intersection. We then keep right. Here, overlooking Bengel, we have a beautiful view of Bengel and later again of Springiersbach. We stay on the path, passing Springiersbach Farm, until we meet the road to Springiersbach. This then takes us left after about 300 m back to the starting point of our route, the parking lot at the monastery church.
