A varied half-day hike. It offers views of the Mosel, Grevenburg and Hunsrück, passing through bright deciduous and dense coniferous forests and wide meadows.

After the ascent through the Koppelberg settlement, head first towards Traben-Trarbach. Through the trees, the Mosel glimmers repeatedly, offering wonderful views of the Grevenburg and Starkenburg. Then the path forks. We go slightly uphill, with the trees repeatedly revealing views into the Kautenbach valley and to the Hunsrück.

After 1 km, a right-hand bend, then about 700 meters of steep uphill. Another 100 m up left, then a right turn marks the start of the return path.

Now the path leads almost level through deciduous and coniferous forest to Eichfeld.

The gentle descent on the "Flood Path" allows time for views of Mont Royal, the chapel above Kröv, and the vineyard "Wolfer Goldgrube". About 10 minutes after the right turn, there is a magnificent view of Traben-Trarbach and the Grevenburg.

Shortly after, the path descends through the Koppelberg settlement, a short distance down the road, then through the vineyard "Klostergarten" back to Wolf.

General information

Directions

From the riverside road, follow the cycle path downstream along the Mosel to the Jugendhof bus stop (approx. 1.2 km). Here you must cross the B 53. Continue on the footpath to and through the Jugendhof to the Koppelberg.

Once you reach the Koppelberg, go uphill on Eichfeld and Koppelberg streets. Immediately behind the last house on Koppelberg street, turn left into the forest towards Trarbach (following T8). After about 300 m, turn right to the Wolfer waterworks. At the fork immediately behind, the path continues left, gently downhill. After crossing the Goldbach stream, continue straight ahead, slightly uphill to the next fork. Here turn left towards Trarbach.

The circular route, however, continues right on the path covered with white basalt gravel. After about 200 m, you have a wonderful view of Trarbach and the Grevenburg. Another approx. 1 km uphill brings you to the highest point of the circular route (approx. 5.7 km). Then continue half-right into the forest back towards Koppelberg (T8). After about 2.5 km, the forest path ends at an asphalted road (8.2 km). Turn right and after about 800 m, you reach Koppelberg again. Continue on Koppelberg street as on the outward journey. Go straight ahead on Eichfeld street, then left downhill at the bus shelter to the district road. Follow this road right towards the B53 for about 300 m to the Weinbergsweg on the left side. From here continue left and after another 100 m turn right through the vineyards, gently uphill towards Wolf. After another 200 m, cross Klosterberg street to the Mosel and follow the riverside road upstream to the starting point, the Tourist Information Wolf.
