Extensive walk, mostly along the banks of the Moselle. On the way to Kövenig, the Traben Art Nouveau buildings can be admired.
The hiking trail leads you from the art nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach down the Moselle to Kövenig. The Traben-Trarbach tourist information office is located near the starting point. Pick up the Kluturroute flyer here and discover the beautiful Art Nouveau buildings along the Moselle promenade in Traben-Trarbach. From the Art Nouveau houses, you will pass the marina and the Enkirch lock and reach the small village of Kövenig. From there, in summer, you can either take the ferry to Enkirch and hike back to Traben-Trarbach via the Moselsteig trail, for example. The Moselle wine train also runs hourly back to Traben.
You start at Traben-Trarbach station and follow the signs for the Moselle Wine Railway. You will soon reach the Moselle and follow the bank downstream. Before the harbour, you will reach the first viewpoint at Corveyer Hof.
You now hike along the tracks to Kövenig station. On the way towards Kövenig, you will shortly pass the small marina Trarben-Trarbach and the Enkirch barrage.
This is where the first stage of the Moselbahnwein hike ends and you can comfortably take the train back to Traben-Trarbach or continue by train to Reil station to start the Reil-Bullay stage.
The Kövenig - Reil section is currently still in the planning phase.
