General information

Directions

From the car park of the barbecue hut "Am Römerhang" above the Kinheim district of Kindel, the route leads through the forest, past magnificent viewpoints to a small shelter. The "Kluckerter Bach" is crossed via wooden bridges. Below and above the Kluckerter Bridge, embedded in the rock, are remains of Roman mills; the associated villa was located on the ridge. The path continues uphill to the "Wolfer Klosterruine". The "Liebfrauenkirche auf dem Göckelsberg", the official name of the Wolfer monastery, is one of the oldest parish churches on the Mosel. From 1478, the "Golden Brothers of the Common Life", also called "Kogelherren", were active here. On the ascent, there is a magnificent view of the Mosel Valley and the well-known wine village of Kröv, home of the "Kröver Nacktarsch". The route continues towards Wolf, a village located on one of the most distinctive Mosel loops. Here, the resting place at Kleinforst invites a pause. The side route through the Wolfer Mühlenbachtal passes former water reservoirs for irrigating the vineyards, butterfly habitats, forest meadows, and orchard meadows. After the climb to the Mosel promontory, the path slowly descends back into the valley and goes through forest and vineyard terrain, past the excavation site with remains of a Roman villa, the find spot of the Gallo-Roman protective god "Sucellus", back to the starting point.
