A circular hike through the Kondelwald with a return route through the Schlangenschlucht.
Well-signposted circular hiking trail No. 6 through the Kondelwald where you can discover the exceptionally diverse flora and fauna. Enjoy the delicate fresh green of the trees in spring, the pleasantly cool climate of the forest in summer, the colourful leaves and fruits in autumn, and the snowy sparkling magical landscape in winter. Mouflon, red deer, small game and wild boar are native to the Kondelwald, as well as the most diverse forest birds which you can identify by their calls and drumming sounds. Forest fruits like wild strawberries, blackberries, mushrooms, rose hips and tree fruits can be found depending on the season. Hike past pastures, horse paddocks, and orchards. Let yourself be inspired by the sounds and aromas of the landscape.
General information
Directions
The starting point is the public car park at the monastery church Springiersbach.
From here you follow a farm track, passing the Springiersbach hiking hut towards Kondelwald. At the bridge over the Springiersbach stream (on the left) switch to a well-developed forest path. At the end of the route, turn right onto the asphalt forest road and follow the signs No. 6. Along the way, you will experience the diverse flora and fauna of our Kondelwald. Birdsong and animal tracks will accompany you on the trail. The return leads around the Hommerichskopf with views of Bengel. On the way back through the district 'Auf Schotterbüsch', passing pastures and orchards, you will find a small fountain with a bench where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest. Enjoy the view of meadows, fields, and pastures. At the end of the route, keep left towards Bengel. At the end of the forest path, keep left again and take the ascent through the Schlangenschlucht. At the next fork, keep right to reach the Springiersbach farm. From here you can already see the bell tower of the monastery church.
At the end of the route, turn left back towards Springiersbach and the starting point, monastery church car park.

Please stay on the paths to avoid disturbing the flora and fauna of the Kondelwald.
Equipment
Sturdy footwear and packed lunch are recommended.
Tip
Visit the monastery church with its baroque ceiling paintings and the choir stalls in the altar area. A visit to the monastery shop is also recommended.
