General information

Directions

From the Tourist Info Wolf, we cross the old Moselle bridge to the other side of the Moselle and follow the signposting "Zuweg Moselsteig" here. Once on the other side of the Moselle, we turn half left into the vineyard path above the bridge access. Here begins the theme path "Zippammer's World." Along the theme path, you learn a lot of interesting facts about the Mediterranean bird Zippammer, which has several breeding areas on the Moselle, including here in the "Wolfer Goldgrube." We continue to follow the signposting "Zuweg Moselsteig", can visit the remains of a Roman press installation along the way, and then climb the switchbacks to the next path. There we find another information board about "Zippammer's World" a little off the path. The hiking route continues to the left, always following the signposting "Zuweg Moselsteig." Because of the wonderful view of the Moselle bend with the towns of Wolf and Kröv and many built-in seating areas, the climb feels only half as hard. At the top, we follow the short asphalt path to the right towards "Mont Royal" (signs 8 + 9) until we reach the Moselsteig. Now the Moselsteig leads us about 4 km towards Traben-Trarbach. We walk along the edge of the slope and can repeatedly enjoy spectacular views. It passes remains of a French fortress from the time of the Sun King Louis XIV. Those interested in culture and historic masonry can extend the hike and explore the well-signposted fortress. An information board is located at a small parking lot through which our path runs. We continue on the Moselsteig towards the glider airfield. In the summer months, we can refresh ourselves at the airfield restaurant and watch the gliders cloud surfing for a while. This should also be the re-entry point to our hiking trail for those exploring the fortress! But before continuing on the Moselsteig, we take a narrow path opposite the restaurant to a shelter hut and enjoy a particularly beautiful view into the Moselle Valley. Alternatively to the restaurant, this is also an ideal rest stop to check what the backpack still offers. Refreshed, we continue hiking on the Moselsteig towards Traben-Trarbach, which soon leads us right through the vineyards to the intersection of the hiking trail "T9." From here, we follow the paved path downhill to the right towards Rissbach. Upon reaching "Rosenhof," we first stay on the right side of the street and walk towards the new Moselle bridge. Behind the campsite entrance, we cross the street and then the bridge on the left side. Now it goes comfortably along the foot and bike path along the Moselle shore back to Wolf.
