Grand opening event of the MOSEL WINE NIGHT MARKET with fireworks display from Grevenburg Castle

The popular Mosel-Wein-Nachts-Markt will once again kick off the Advent season with a special highlight this year. On Friday, 21 November 2025 at 6 p.m., the underground Christmas market will officially open at the ice rink in Traben-Trarbach – with a festive programme for young and old alike. The evening will kick off with the Traben-Trarbach Music Association, which will get the audience in the mood for the (pre-)Christmas season with its music. Afterwards, the Fireflies show dance group from VfL Traben-Trarbach will bring movement and glamour to the ice rink with their rousing choreography.

Traditionally, the Mosel-Wein-Nachts-Markt will then be officially opened with a salute from the Sponheim Musketeers' city guard, signalling the start of the Advent season in Traben-Trarbach. A special highlight awaits guests immediately afterwards: spectacular fireworks from Grevenburg Castle will once again light up the sky above the Moselle. Organised by the company Blickfang Werbung, the fireworks display is a crowd puller – in previous years, it has already caused excitement among visitors.

 ‘Due to the positive response over the last two years, there will be another aerial fireworks display from Grevenburg Castle this year,’ reports Thomas Marx, who has been planning the opening event at the ice rink for years. ‘The ice rink offers the best view – a perfect moment to toast the upcoming Christmas season with a glass of mulled wine.’ From 7.30 p.m., the programme continues seamlessly with atmospheric live music: the duo ‘The 4Senses’ – consisting of Cati Oster (vocals) and Roland Bertram (guitar) – presents a varied repertoire of well-known pop, rock and acoustic songs, performed in a charming, unplugged style. A musical finale in a cosy atmosphere is guaranteed. The Mosel-Wein-Nachts-Markt promises an atmospheric start to the Advent season right from the opening – with regional flair, musical diversity and an unforgettable fireworks display.
