historich oil mill Springiersbach

The oil mill of Springiersbach is one of the few remaining oil mills in Rhineland-Palatinate. In the lower Alfbachtal, there were a total of 5 such mills in the past; it was built in 1856 as part of the Springiersbach monastery mill. The water power of the mill was also used to drive a circular saw, which served as an additional source of income through the sale of firewood in the winter months. In 1989, the mill was acquired by the local community of Bengel, and in 2002, oil was pressed there again after 40 years of inactivity. Today, the mill can be visited as part of a guided tour with prior registration.
