Well-marked Circular Trail No. 5 (Green) from Springiersbach Monastery through the Kondel Forest and a side valley of the Alf. Beautiful views of the Füllersbach Valley, the Alfbach Valley, and toward Bengel and Springiersbach.
This approximately 10 km hike leads through the Kondel Forest and a side valley of the Alf River. The trail offers fantastic views into the Alf Valley, toward Bengel and Springiersbach, and on clear days even as far as the Wittlich Basin. A varied mix of steady climbs, gentle descents, and long flat sections makes the route especially interesting.
The path is very well marked as Route No. 5 (Green), well-maintained, and accessible all year round.
The starting point is the public parking area near the monastery church in Springiersbach.
From there, follow the farm track, passing the Springiersbach hikers’ shelter, into the Kondel Forest. Follow the signs for Route No. 5 (Green) and enjoy stunning views into the Alf Valley, toward Bengel and Springiersbach. In good weather, you can even see as far as the Wittlich Basin. A steady mix of ascents and descents, along with long flat sections, makes the route pleasantly varied.
The return route passes the Hommerichskopf, with wide views over Bengel, the Alf Valley, pastures, and orchards. Take a break at the Jacob's Cross, where a magnificent view of Springiersbach and the monastery church invites you to pause.
At the next fork, keep left to reach the Springiersbach Farm. From here, you can already spot the bell tower of the monastery church.
At the end of the trail, turn left again to return to Springiersbach and the starting point at the monastery parking area.
Please stay on the designated paths to avoid disturbing the flora and fauna of the Kondel Forest.
Sturdy footwear and snacks or provisions in a backpack are recommended.
Visit the monastery church with its baroque ceiling frescoes and the choir stalls in the sanctuary. A visit to the monastery shop is also highly recommended.
