Welcome to the beautiful Moselle Valley! Elves Elli and Edgar welcome you to this short hiking adventure and take you on a magical journey through their enchanted forest.

Discover roots, trees, and rock formations on this 3.2 km short hiking trail that spark your imagination and invite you to explore. This scenic rocky landscape of the region can be experienced in a wonderfully playful and imaginative way.

The 21 stations offer variety and encourage young and old alike to be curious, to explore, and to play – with nature and with each other. You'll also find fascinating facts about nature and wildlife in the 24-page companion brochure (available for download). You can also get a printed version at the Tourist Information.

Whether it’s searching for hidden figures, stacking your own “wild stones”, or finding wooden animals hidden in the forest – there's plenty to discover! Finding them, putting them in the right order, and decoding them using the brochure to form a solution word is another fun challenge. And for everyone who solves it correctly: a little surprise awaits at the end!

The 3.2 km long “Elf Path” is located just outside Traben-Trarbach, in the district of Bad Wildstein.

General information

Directions

From the parking area, a short path leads uphill on foot. Just before reaching the main entrance of the thermal spa, turn left onto a small trail. At the next junction, turn left again, walk down a small hill, and then follow the path steadily uphill for quite a while.

After about 1 km, turn left following the signs toward Wildstein. After passing Wildstein, continue along the trail, which now descends more steeply through a series of serpentine curves. At the bottom of the switchbacks, turn left and continue on the path for about 1 km.

This section features the majority of the “elf-like formations”, which invite you to search and imagine. The trail then reconnects with the initial path, which comfortably leads back to the spa parking area.
