The hike follows the Moselsteig along the entire route and is connected by Moselsteig access paths to form an attractive circular hike. The trail offers very varied sections through forests, vineyards, the town of Traben-Trarbach and charming Moselle villages. From the starting point in the holiday village of Mont Royal, follow the Moselsteig signs to Enkirch and from there return to the starting point via the Moselsteig access path.

General information

Directions

On this hike, there are quite a few metres of altitude to overcome, but you are rewarded for the steep climbs with fantastic views and great vineyard locations. This is true right after the first ascent from the starting point to the Mont Royal holiday park. From there, it is worth making a detour to the former Vauban fortress, which has only been preserved in its basic features, but gives the hiker a good impression of the times. From there, the route continues to Traben-Trarbach. The town is an architectural jewel of the Art Nouveau period - many buildings are still preserved from that time. In addition to a tour of the town, you will also find many places to stop for a break. If you still have a bit of puff and you can see the flag on the Grevenburg from the valley, you can also manage the next few metres in altitude before stopping off at the Grevenburg. Here you have a wonderful view of the entire Moselle valley. From there, continue towards Starkenburg in the footsteps of Countess Loretta. From Starkenburg, the path continues to Enkirch - magnificent views open up again and again. In Enkirch you will pass many old half-timbered houses, inns and, especially in autumn, wine taverns invite you to linger. If you still have time and are fit, you can explore Enkirch on the Gässchenrundweg. The small passenger ferry takes you to Kövenig. From there, you have to climb the last few metres of altitude before arriving back at the Mont Royal holiday village.
