Hike through the "Römerhang" and the "Graacher Schanzen" with magnificent views of the Moselle valley

The trail climbs through the "Römerhang" vineyard to the Moselhöhenweg. The trail continues through the extensive fortification "Mont National" from 1795, the "Graacher Schanzen" and on to Bernkastel-Kues. The "Iron Wine List" on the way invites you to take a break. 

General information

Directions

Cross the Kinheim bridge to Kindel, continue straight on hiking trail no. 8 and no. 13 to the barbecue hut "Am Römerhang". Continue along the path above the hut. After approx. 100m, follow path no. 8 to the right (signposted Bernkastel, somewhat steep ascent) Continue along path no. 8 until you reach the Moselsteig. Turn right and follow "M" over the "Graacher Schanzen". Pass the "Iron Wine List" and continue downhill to Bernkastel-Kues.

Equipment

Sturdy shoes are recommended 

Tip

Picnic at the "Iron Wine List" and then take a leisurely stroll through Bernkastel's old town.
