A varied footpath (former towpath) along the Moselle riverbank, passing cultivated and fallow vineyard plots as well as remnants of natural alluvial forest.
For the interested observer, this section impressively reveals the coexistence of cultural and natural landscapes, with views of the neighboring village of Pünderich, the Marienburg, and the railway viaduct of the Koblenz–Trier line. The return path leads past the residential buildings of the former Pünderich railway station.
We start at Bibade Platz and head toward the Moselle riverbank, keeping left in the direction of the Reil motorhome parking area. Then turn left again up a short incline into Burggasse. At the top, turn right into Schulstraße and continue until it merges with Auf Mühlenrech. Keep left to stay on Schulstraße and cross the railway tracks at the end.
After the crossing, take the second right into the vineyards and follow the path until you reach the railway slope viaduct. Once back at the Moselle riverbank, turn right toward the former Pünderich train station residences and follow the riverside path back to the starting point at Bibade Platz.
⚠️ The return route follows the busy cycle path along the Moselle. Alternatively, you can take part of the Kanonenbahn Trail by following the signs toward Reil after passing under the viaduct.
There is an unprotected railway crossing along the route. Please be cautious – trains pass every 30 minutes.
