An exhausting but worthwile hike between Enkirch and Traben-Trarbach in steep slate slopes through old vineyard paths and breathtaking views into the Moselle valley.

The signposted hike follows the steep slate vineyards between Enkirch and Traben-Trarbach in which some of the best Riesling wines of the Middle Moselle thrive.

For hikers it is a lasting experience to get to know the difficult working conditions in classic steep slopes where vineyards have a slope of around 70%, sun rays fall almost vertically at noon and the Riesling vinegrapes stand in lush green even in hot summer times.

The view into the landscape of the Moselle valley is overwhelming from numerous benches.

General information

Directions

Er führt unter Benutzung uralter Weinbergspfade von der Straße "Zum Zeppwingert" durch die Weinbergslagen "Enkircher Zeppwingert" und "Enkircher Ellergrub" auf den Kirster Grat, von dem man über den Moselhöhenweg (M) zurück nach Enkirch oder weiter nach Starkenburg wandern kann. The hike during the time of grape harvest is particularly attractive when you can watch winemakers at work in famous Enkirch wine locations.

Mit dem PKW über die Bundesstraße B53, L192 oder L193 bis nach Enkirch an der Mosel

Parken am Moselparkplatz Enkirch - Kostenfrei. Ca. 150m zum Startpunkt

Public transit

Mit dem Zug (Ostern bis Oktober): mit Mosel-Wein-Bahn bis zum Haltepunkt Kövenig, dann mit der Fähre nach Enkirch. Zum Startpunkt ca. 150m von der Fähre.
