General information
Directions
From the boathouse, we follow the signs for the access path. A steep ascent begins at an entrance to the vineyards. We follow the purple-marked Zollturmsteig loop. The trail climbs steeply up to Starkenburg, passing the village church. Shortly before the ruins of Starkenburg Castle, the route turns left and descends steeply into historic vineyard slopes.
After a short stretch, the path joins the red loop of the Zollturmsteig. Here you can choose to combine both routes or continue directly along the purple signs back to the starting point.
Safety Guidelines
This tour requires a good head for heights. Trails can be slippery when wet.
Equipment
Sturdy footwear and walking poles are recommended.
Tip
After the sweaty climb up to Starkenburg, you’ll be rewarded with a fantastic view.
